Awesome Gang: Interview With Author Anndy Lian

Awesome Gang: Interview With Author Anndy Lian

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My name is Anndy Lian. I have provided advisory across a variety of industries for local, international, public listed companies and governments. I am an early blockchain adopter and experienced serial entrepreneur, book author, investor, board member and keynote speaker. I have written two books. The first was “Blockchain Revolution 2030”. The second is “NFT: From Zero to Hero”.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
NFT: From Zero to Hero is my latest book. Zero to Hero is a call to anyone and everyone excited about the prospect of the world of NFT. Bound by imagination only, the NFT space is still in its early days, and early adopters can be a “heroes” in their search for new possibilities.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I like to walk around during the brainstorming periods. And usually lying on the bed when writing.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Books about Lee Kuan Yew, the founding father of Singapore, influenced me the most. For example, “The Singapore Story: Memoirs of Lee Kuan Yew” is a book about his personal and political life and provides a blow-by-blow chronicle of his dealings with political groups and leaders, both Malaysian and international, on the road to independence.

What are you working on now?
Currently, I am appointed as the Chief Digital Advisor at Mongolia Productivity Organization, championing national digitization. I am still working on good investments on the side. I still hope to contribute my knowledge and expertise to a good crypto company in the near future.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I do believe being active on social media will help. Of course, having a community that believes in you helps much too. Community-driven, word-of-mouth promotion works the best.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
New authors should look at publishing their books in new formats like NFT or on Web3 platforms too. Trying something new can bring you surprises too.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Focus more on the present — Don’t regret the past and don’t be anxious about the future. Appreciate what is happening right now.

What are you reading now?
I am reading “Steve Jobs” by Walter Isaacson right now.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I am working on a picture book and another on cryptocurrency trading strategies.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Universe in a Single Atom: The Convergence of Science and Spirituality by Dalai Lama would be the book. I always wanted to complete this book but did not find the time to finish it.

Adding to the stranded island list would be Proof Of Stake: The Making of Ethereum and the Philosophy of Blockchains Paperback by Vitalik Buterin and The Mamba Mentality: How I Play Hardcover by Kobe Bryant.

Bitcoin Has Died Nearly 500 Times as Bear Market Bottom Signals End of Crypto

Bitcoin Has Died Nearly 500 Times as Bear Market Bottom Signals End of Crypto
  • Bitcoin has been declared dead 465+ times from 2010
  • Over 124 articles claimed crypto was dead in 2017.
  • The first such claim was made in 2010 by the Underground Economist when Bitcoin was trading at $0.23.

Renowned Indian Author Chetan Bhagat wrote a column declaring that crypto is dead. Is it the sign at the bottom?

The article from the well-known author Chetan Bhagat focuses on how crypto is dead due to the collapse of FTX. He expressed his strong anti-crypto opinion stating that crypto is like communism which promises decentralization but ultimately leads to power in the hands of a select few.

Bitcoin declared dead 465 times.

Bitcoin has been declared dead 465+ times, according to a page in 99Bitcoins, that counts the total reported Bitcoin obituaries. The Underground Economist made the first such report with the title, “Why Bitcoin can’t be a currency,” when the price of Bitcoin was $0.23. The article is no longer live today.

Satoshi Stacker, a well-known crypto analyst, predicted that as more and more people hear about the damage caused by FTX, there will be more reporting on “Crypto is Dead.”

Is the bottom in?

The crypto community believes that such articles are a signal for the bottom. Usually, during the market bottom, the FUD (Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt) is at its peak. The frequency of articles claiming the death of crypto increases. The chart below shows that most articles with bearish sentiment were written when the market was preparing for a rally in Nov 2013.

Similarly, 93 obituaries were reported when the market bottomed in 2018. In 2020 various reports claimed Bitcoin was worthless, dead, and rat poison. The exception to this was in 2017 when over 124 articles were written declaring crypto dead due to multiple bans on crypto exchanges, Initial Coin Offering (ICOs) in China.

Anndy Lian, Book Author NFT: From Zero to Hero Spoke at ApeX Dex Talks Episode 9

Anndy Lian, Book Author NFT: From Zero to Hero Spoke at ApeX Dex Talks Episode 9

Anndy Lian spoke at ApeX Dex Talks Episode 9 on 9 November 2022. ApeX DeX Talks is a weekly fireside chat happening every Wednesday on ApeX Protocol’s official Twitter. The host used this segment to have real conversations on real decentralization with leading voices in the web3 space.

Anndy Lian is a Thought Leader, Investor & Best-Selling Author. His latest book titled NFT: From Zero to Hero is also well-accepted by the NFT community.

At the talk, the host and Anndy touched on the following:

– Let’s begin with an Introduction of yourself, and tell us more about your background in the crypto space. How long have you been active in crypto and what have your experiences been like so far?

– Sounds like you have been through a lot in this space. So Anndy, can you dive into the basics of NFTs and what is it usually used for in web3 at the moment?

– What other kinds of use cases do you think the technology of NFTs would be able to help with the real world? Do you think NFTs could eventually replace the traditional paper certificates of ownership like real estates, wills and legal documents?

– Could you share with us what are your thoughts on the future of NFTs and its relevance to the real world. When do you think mass adoption of NFTs would become a mainstream thing?

– We have seen a common occurrence in the NFT space where bots and snipers are constantly manipulating prices of NFT launches. Do you think that industry experts should be coming up with preventive measures to curb such actions or that this is actually healthy for the space?

– Do you think that NFTs have a chance in the eSports scene or any other gaming sectors? How do you think NFTs will be integrated and which projects are most likely to welcome NFTs to their ecosystem?

– Let’s talk about DEXes and why is it an indispensable part of DeFi:
We have all seen the recent saga between Binance and FTX, where FTX has announced that they are facing liquidity issues and their users may not be able to withdraw all their funds. What is your opinion on this and how could this have been avoided?

– What is your take on Decentralized exchanges? What do you think are some of the advantages offered by DEXes as opposed to their centralized counterparts?

– What are your thoughts on the ApeX Protocol?I know you have tried the product already, maybe you can share your thoughts with our listeners.

– Another question I would like to ask you that concerns AperX, as you know on ApeX Pro, the SBT ApeSoul will be used to establish a trader’s trading performance and reputation in a social trading model, erasing the need for manual verification via a centralized entity. Traders have full control over the creation of their ApeSouls.

ApeSouls are linked to a trader’s trading profile (DID — Digital Identity), which includes data such as trading volume, number of trades, open interest, ranking, profits and more. With this, ApeX Pro traders can make their foray into Web 3.0 social trading, where Principal Traders can be determined automatically on the protocol via the data locked on a trader’s unique ApeSoul.

What are your thoughts on using SBTs in social trading?

Anndy ended the talk by asking all to be cautious in the current crypto environment. “Always do your own research.”
