KTVN USA: Positive Impact and Outlook for Security Tokens Offering (STO)

The last panel of the Blockchain Economic Forum is on Fundraising via SIEO and Regulation. The panel is joined by international experts: Sharon Lou (Managing Partner, Asia Pacific Venture Capital) Anndy Lian (Inter-Governmental Blockchain Advisor and Book Author of Blockchain Revolution 2030), Arnie Chaudhuri (Managing Partner, AV Group), Habeed Syed (Corporate and Securities Partner, B.J. Kang Law, Pc), Nizam Ismail (Founder, Ethikom Consultancy), Csaba Robert Horvath (Founder, Fusion Capital Partners) and Valentin Preobrazhenskiy (Founder, LAToken).

The panelists started the discussion by sharing their views on the future of the STO market. The initial comments seemed negative and lack of confidence but later all the panelists clarified their views.

“We are not negative. We are just cautious. STO and blockchain let us look at securities offering in a different manner. Instead of going through hundred of pages of prospectus, blockchain allows all these information to be found on the chain: Verified, transparent and trusted.” Nizam Ismail explained further.

Anndy Lian added “The crypto market in general right now is almost dead. Retail investors in the crypto market has dropped tremendously and their confidence level are low. The introduction of STO will bring in new accredited and global professional Investors into the market. Regulators like Singapore MAS are all ready to embrace this new market and there are already many talks in the global market on how this will change how securities are being traded. It will be impactful for the blockchain market. We will all see positive results in 2020.”

Other pressing issues on how the token economy is going to evolve in 2020 and how regulations will set in for blockchain projects in terms of fundraising were discussed.

“Entrepreneurs like to pushed the boundaries and drive towards innovation.” Arnie Chaudhuri shared. Many of the audiences agree to his perspective. Danny Ee, Founder of Ruby Wallet also shared his views after the forum that Arnie and all the speakers are very sharp: “I am a technologist, I pushed my boundaries too to make sure my wallet works well in the eco system. I want my work to be noticed. I need my investors and supporters to work towards my vision that sometimes can be seemed to be too innovative.”

The panelists are knowledgeable and have given many different angles to the issues raised during the forum. All of them are positive of the blockchain technology and want to see how STO will create positive impact to the market.

The Blockchain Economic Forum is organized by LAToken, a rapidly growing crypto exchange focusing on liquidity for new tokens. It has recently entered CoinMarketCap’s Top 50 by trading volume.

CPO인Calvin Adamus는 한국 우수한 미디어 회사Hashnet Korea 및 본사를 싱가포르에 둔 Blockcast.cc와 인터뷰를 진행하여 Gaimin.io 게임 플랫폼의 발전을 상세히 설명했다. Calvin은 Gaimin.io를 ‘계속해서 진화하는 블록체인 게임 플랫폼’으로 묘사했다.

 Gaimin.io은 블록체인 기술을 적용한 게임 회사이고 2017년 연말, 일글랜드 맨체스터에서 설립했다. 그 당시 마침 ICO 백열화 시기이기에 프로젝트 자금 조달이 많이 쉬웠다. 하지만 Gaimin.io 팀은 제품 개발에 몰두하는 것과 기반 부분(아키텍처, 경제 모형 및 합규성 등)의 구축이 우선이라고 판단해 ICO를 진행하지 않았다.

 팀원들의 노력 하에 플랫폼은 점차 형태가 갖췄고 해당 플랫폼에서 게이머들은 자신의 게임 자산을 관리할 수 있고 서로 소통하여 정보를 얻을 수 있으며 GPU자원을 공유하고 채굴에 참여할 수 있다. 이로써Gaimin.io는 시장 홍보와 융자를 시작해 2019년에 Gaimin가 최초로 한국 시장에 진출했다.

 불과 몇 개월 동안,  Gaimin는 한국에서 자신의 커뮤니티를 구성하고 여러 현지 블록체인 행사를 개최하고 참여하여 빠른 시간 내에 한국에서의 인지도를 높였다. 이 과정 중, Gaimin는 본사를 서울에 둔 암호화 자산 거래소Borabit과 IEO 첫 런칭을 진행하기로 결정했다. IEO의 결과는 예상을 넘어2,000,000개의 GMRX 토큰이 15분만에 전부 매진되었다. Gaimin.io의 첫 밋업은 큰 성공을 거두었다. 행사 당일 폭우가 내렸지만 지지자들의 열정은 여전히 뜨거웠다. 150여명이 강남구에 위치한 Huobi카페에 모여 함께 Gaimin.io의 최신 발전 동향을 살펴봤다. Gaimin의 CEO인Martin Speight는 초대 받고 2019 세계 스마트 시티 엑스포에 참여했고 원탁 토론도 함께했다. 이로써 Gaimin의 한국 및 아시아 시장의 발전을 위해 좋은 기반을 마련했다.

 Gaimin는 중국 시장에서도 중국인 커뮤니티를 구성했다. 커뮤니티의 인원수가 점차 많아지자Gaimin.io는 중국에서 제2차 IEO를 진행하기로 했다. 해당 IEO는 11월에 본사를 중국에 둔 거래소 Nazadax와 함께완성했다. 이번 IEO 중, 4,000,000개의 GMRX 토큰은 10분만에 전부 매진되어 Gaimin의 아시아 홍보 계획을 위해 새로운 이정표를 세워줬다.

 Calvin은 Gaimin.io의 PM이자 최초로 Gaimin의 제품 이념을 제시한 사람이다. 그가 이끈 제품 팀은 1년 넘게 여러 모듈을 개발했고 그 중 정교한 게이머 사용자 인터페이스가 바로 Calvin팀의 작품이다. 획기적인 성공을 거둔 alpha 테스트 후, Gaimin는 최종 테스트와 전면 런칭을 열심히 준비했다.  “우리는 이미 beta테스트 단계의 준비를 마쳤고 현재 이미 수백 명의 게이머들이 등록 신청을 했다.”고 말했다.

 Hashnet의 CEO인Chang Nyoung Suh는 인터뷰에서 “해외의 우수한 프로젝트들이 한국에 와서 발전하는 것을 아주 환영한다. 한국이 여러 해외 프로젝트들이 블록체인 산업에서 발전하는 연결점 및 부스터 역할을 할 수 있게 되어 매우 기쁘다.”고 말했다.

 행사에서 연설을 가진 <블록체인 혁명 2030>의 작가인 Anndy Lian는 Gaimin.io가 지난 몇 개월 동안 발전을 가질 수 있게 되어 매우 기쁘다고 하면서 “Gaimin의 아시아 투자자 관계 담당자인 Sander de Bruijn을 통해 해당 프로젝트를 알게 되었는데, 참으로 열심히 일을 하는 팀이라고 느꼈다. Anndy Lian believes that the future of blockchain is in our hands and reminded all to reflect. He chaired the panel titled “Blockchain Revolution 2030” at the World Blockchain Summit MARVELS on 20 November 2019 at Shilla Hotel, Seoul. Together with the panel of experts, they discussed the future of blockchain and the trends ahead.

The panel consists of Jonathan Kochmer (Former Amazon and Cofounder of RChain Asia), Jay Liang (Chairman of Hong Kong Blockchain Association), Nicola  Nicolas Jacquet (Director of Marketing of HDAC), Anndy Lian (Inter-governmental Blockchain Advisor of APO), Vazgen Yeghiazar (CEO of EDC Blockchain) and Saul Tarazona (Chairman of Fight to Fame).

Anndy started the panel by asking about how they think blockchain will evolve in the next 3-5 years.

“Blockchain will be in our lives without us knowing. The apps and dapps will adopt blockchain in some way or another without consumers knowing much.” Saul commented. Nicholas agreed on the viewpoint and added that blockchain would become a standard protocol, and it will be used very widely as part of the big system: “It will change our lives without us knowing.”

Vazgen suggested that In the near future, we can even tokenize ourselves. We will tokenize the value of an individual and receive direct investment using tokens. “The future of blockchain is unpredictable and I look forward to the limitless possibilities ahead!”

“In the last 150 years, most of the capital has been concentrated on the rich, but in the coming future, blockchain technology will share capital and expand the opportunity for anyone to join the market.” Jay shared his views.

“For the sake of discussion, I don’t think blockchain can do so much, it will change part of what we are doing right now, but it surely cannot change the world. Bridging the gap between rich and poor is not a job for blockchain. Stopping corruption, fraud, money laundering are also not tasks for this technology. Blockchain can only help to reduce and assist.” Anndy Lian gave a different opinion. “I also see that in the near future, 3-5 years, we will see security tokens go mainstream, and hopefully, the regulations can help to speed up the process for everything else.”

Anndy also gave his comments to the reporter off the stage saying that the future of blockchain is in our hands: “Blockchain is seen like a speculation tool and a big hype to many people and businesses like I have mentioned on the stage. If we want to see a better future for blockchain, we need to do a reality check by not adding on more fluff to the existing hype. We all have our own personal agenda. I can always sing the same song and say things that the general public likes to listen to and make blockchain a savior for humanity, but this is not right. At the right time, we need to properly educate the market and set a good example for our future.”

The panel agreed that blockchain has a very bright future ahead for everyone. Industries like finance, gaming, supply chain, medical and more will benefit from this technology. Industry 4.0, automation, artificial intelligence, deep learning,  internet of things will work more harmoniously together with blockchain. Blockchain will aid in closing up existing gaps such as security and introducing a new trust value.

This is the 7th World Blockchain Summit. The event is supported by Ministry of Science and ICT, Seoul, Busan, Korea Blockchain Industry Promotion Association, Busan Economic Promotion Institute, Chungcheongbuk-do Knowledge Industry Promotion Agency, Korea Blockchain Startup Association, Korea Blockchain Industry Promotion Association, Korea Blockchain Society and Korea e-Sports Industry.

Park Bong-kyu, who is the Founder and CEO of World Blockchain Summit is very thankful for the support from the Korean community and also his friends from all over the world who came. At the summit, he also had good discussions on future policies with the Politicians. He had also lined up a group of exhibitors to showcase their blockchain work. Lastly, he made an alliance with Gaimin.io, who is based in Europe to develop on the eSports gaming market.

Korea continues to be one of the key countries for blockchain innovation. There will be more events and announcements ahead for the industry in months to come.
