Prior to his current appointments, he was the Chairman of BigONE Exchange, a global top 30 ranked crypto spot exchange and was also the Advisory Board Member for Hyundai DAC. He also played a pivotal role as the Blockchain Advisor for Asian Productivity Organisation (APO), an intergovernmental organization committed to improving productivity in the Asia-Pacific region.

The topic of the roundtable is Ethereum Merge: Everything you need to know.

The Merge represents the joining of the existing execution layer of Ethereum (the Mainnet we use today) with its new proof-of-stake consensus layer, the Beacon Chain. It eliminates the need for energy-intensive mining and instead secures the network using staked ETH. A truly exciting step in realizing the Ethereum vision – more scalability, security, and sustainability.

At the Ethereum Community Conference in France, Vitalik Buterin said that Ethereum is just 40% complete—and there’s plenty more coming after the “merge.” The Ethereum mainnet with the proof-of-stake beacon chain—is just the first in a series of planned upgrades.

Ethereum will then undergo further upgrades, which he calls the “surge,” “verge,” “purge,” and “splurge,” he told the conference. These terms are no strangers to Ethereum followers.

Highlights of Ethereum 2.0 aka The Merge:

– Ethereum will move to a POS consensus when it merges with the Beacon Chain

– ETH2 is not a new asset. ETH in your wallet or exchange account will not be impacted.

– Ethereum’s transition to POS will bring numerous benefits, including improved efficiency, scalability, and security, as well as reduced centralization

Anndy answered some of the questions that were being asked:

  • What is Ethereum 2.0’s release date?
The Ethereum development community is making good progress and we expect ETH 2 to go live in 2022. As of July 2022, the Ethereum core developers updated the Ethereum merge timeline with a tentative launch date sometime during the week of September 19th, 2022.

  • Why is Ethereum moving to proof of stake?
Ethereum’s transition to proof of stake will bring numerous benefits, including improved efficiency, scalability, and security, as well as reduced centralization.

  • Will ETH gas fees be cheaper?
No, it will not be cheaper. Gas fees are governed by simple supply and demand. If there is more demand than supply, then gas prices are high. If there is more supply than demand, then gas prices will be low.

  • Is ETH 2.0 a new coin?
No. There is only one $ETH. There is no $ETH2.

  • Is Ethereum going to be on POS?
Yes. Ethereum’s current POW consensus will be shelved. However, the network will still operate the same to its end users.

  • Is ETH 2.0 going to help the current ecosystem?
Yes. The projects that are built on Ethereum will benefit greatly from the upgrade.

Meta Begins Testing Ethereum and Polygon NFTs on Creator Profiles

Meta Begins Testing Ethereum and Polygon NFTs on Creator Profiles

Meta, formerly known as Facebook, is now supporting non-fungible cryptocurrencies (NFTs) for some US creators. According to a representative, the company is starting with Ethereum. Eventually, it will support other NFTs such as those on Flow and Solana.

Users Can Create and Share NFT Posts

Navdeep Singh, a product manager for the Meta platform, revealed in a Twitter post that users would be able to display their NFTs on their Facebook profiles. These are unique blockchain tokens that are designed to signify ownership.

Through their Facebook profiles, users will be able to connect their digital assets to their profiles. They’ll also be able to create and share posts with their NFTs.

Tech and media consultant Martin Bryant argued that Meta “clearly wants to offer a home to Web3 folks” with the announcement, considering the company has also recently begun testing out changes to Facebook Groups to make them look “more like Discord.”

Anndy Lian, thought leader and Chairman at BigONE exchange, said:

“While Instagram isn’t the first social app to experiment with NFTs, the sheer size of its one billion (monthly active) user base gives it its biggest reach versus its competitors, which means that the addition of web3 technology it could potentially engage a whole new group of users. And with Meta’s Facebook expected to add similar features in the near future, Meta will have a huge NFT presence in the social media space. I know Instagram can create more sparks in the NFT space. I am so looking forward to it.”

Earlier Rollouts on Instagram

A representative of Meta has confirmed that the company started rolling out new features for creators on Instagram in May.

Instagram recently announced that it would no longer charge for sharing or posting NFTs, and the company would also allow collectors to share their creations using augmented reality stickers. The company also noted that the creator and the collector would be automatically marked.

In May, Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, said that the company was planning on launching new features for creators in response to the increasing number of people passionate about owning unique digital items.

Meta’s Online Avatar Store

On Saturday, the company announced that it would launch an online store allowing users to buy clothes for their digital avatars. The store will allow users to customize their outfits using real money.

During a live stream on Instagram, Eva Chen, the company’s vice president of fashion partnerships, announced the partnership. The company noted that the store, which will be called the Avatar Store, would be available on its platforms through Instagram and Facebook. Through the partnership, users can purchase clothes for their digital avatars.

To improve its platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger, the company is also introducing 3D avatars. It plans to move away from social media gradually and into a virtual metaverse.

The partnership’s goal is to create a thriving digital economy for Meta’s users. The company has partnered with various fashion brands such as Thom Browne, Prada, and Balenciaga to achieve this.

NFT Sales Have Been Dropping

According to the CryptoSlam tracker, NFT sales have dropped by 150 percent since April. The average price of an NFT has also decreased by 67 percent, from $589 in April to $192. There has additionally been a significant drop in the number of transactions in the market.

The value of the Bored Ape yacht club’s non-finite (NFT) collection has dropped to its lowest point since August 2021. This move is because the floor price has significantly decreased since May, when the collection sold for around $200,000 each.

Crypto carnage: Bitcoin breaks $19k, Ethereum below $1k

Crypto carnage: Bitcoin breaks $19k, Ethereum below $1k

My full comments to the reporter is as such:

Bitcoin falls below $20,000 for the first time since 2020 is expected by many after a series of unfortunate events. The confidence level dropped when the market capitalization falls below to $900 million and over $100 million of Bitcoin future contracts in the last 24 hours were liquidated.

Bitcoin falling below this range means we will see more liquidation triggers especially so for investors who are using leverage to short these positions. This will result to margin calls for investors who borrowed against it. I know many big funds who have liquidation positions around the price of $19,000 to $20,000.

Given the level of confidence lowering, “sharks” sees the opportunity as there is a lot of incentives to trade it down to pass the threshold point of many long term holders.

If Bitcoin falls between $14,000 to $19,000, the free falling effect will kick in. Many Bitcoin pledged as collateral would be forced to be sold. When that happens, Bitcoin may fall to a $12,000 range or lower.

With the rising inflation, hiking interest rates, projected recession, ongoing war and trying to recover from COVID-19 aftermath, Bitcoin is been testing under all these factors for the very first time. In order for Bitcoin and crypto market to recover, we also need to have some certainties over these macroeconomic concerns.

Crypto carnage: Bitcoin breaks $19k, Ethereum below $1k

According to experts, the confidence level among investors dropped when the market capitalisation fell below $900 million and over $100m of Bitcoin futures contracts in the last 24 hours were liquidated.

Amid a wider cryptocurrency market carnage on the weekend, the largest digital currency by market capitalisation Bitcoin (BTC) has broken the $19,000 levels, the first time since December 2020, while the second largest crypto Ethereum (ETH) has broken the psychological $1,000 mark.

Bitcoin is currently down about 10% and trading at $19,040, after making a low of $18,905, according to data from Coinmarketcap.

ETH is down around 10%, trading at $992, after making a low of $986.

The overall market capitalisation of cryptocurrencies has fallen by 5% in the last 24 hours and currently stands at $853 billion.

According to experts, the confidence level among investors dropped when the market capitalisation fell below $900 million and over $100m of Bitcoin futures contracts in the last 24 hours were liquidated.

According to Anndy Lian, Chairman, BigONE Exchange, BTC falling below the $20,000 range will lead to more liquidation triggers, especially for investors who are using leverage to short these positions.

Former CEO of BitMEX Arthur Hayes says massive sell pressure can be expected in the spot markets as key levels for BTC – $20,000 and ETH – $1,000 break, as dealers hedge themselves.

We can also expect that there will be some OTC dealers that will be unable to hedge properly and might go belly up,” he says.
